Coaching Staff

South Carolina Midlands Volleyball Club has many great coaches. We care about our athletes and teach them many lessons that reach beyond the court and walls of our gyms. Many of our coaches have garnered a variety of district championships, region championships, state championships, national bids, as well as appearances at the USA Junior National Championships. Our coaches are experienced in club, school, and college settings.

Glen Dimapan (Head Coach, Director of Recruiting)

Dimapan is a head coach and recruiting director at SC Midlands. Coaching since the club began in 2002. Dimapan has coached all levels of the club from Kids Power, Region, Performance, to National Elite teams of all ages. Glen's has been to USA Junior Nationals several times, as a head coach and/or assistant coach. He has also been to AAU Nationals each year since 2002. In 2016, coaching SC Midlands 18 National to the finals of the 2016 AAU National Championships, where his team was lead by AAU National All-Stars Mackenzie Taylor, Alli Bell, and Gabby Waden. Dimapan currently coaches at Cardinal Newman School as the Assistant Varsity Coach.

Leslie Gonzalez (Assistant Coach)

Gonzalez has a tremendous passion for volleyball. She grew up in Puerto Rico where she played competitively in middle school, high school, and the college. Gonzalez played for the best clubs in Puerto Rico where she created friendships that she still has to this day. Playing in various championships, Gonzalez made the all-star team at Junior Nationals in Puerto Rico. She was a go-to-hitter in college having played at Spartanburg Methodist College, Converse College and Francis Marion.

Raveen Golston (Head Coach)

A native from Columbia SC, Golston attended Dutch Fork High School where she lettered in volleyball, basketball, and track. She has played volleyball for 10 years and has coached for 7 years. Golston played Division I volleyball at Florida Atlantic University located in Boca Raton, Florida where she played as an outside hitter and libero. Golston coached club at 352 Elite Volleyball Club, Boomers Volleyball Club, and Magnum Volleyball Club. She is currently the Assistant Volleyball coach at South Carolina State University.

Tiara Ramey (Assistant Coach)

Ramey attended Virginia State University in 2015, she was a student-athlete for 4 years and graduated May 2019 with a bachelors in health, physical education and recreation. After college, Ramey returned to coach the junior varsity team at Grovetown High School, her alma mater. The team placed 2nd overall in the CCBOE JV Tournament. Having played for SC Midlands, Ramey is back as an assistant coach for the 18 National team. She has a desire to continue to coach club for a long time. Ramey aspires to coach at the college level.

Grace Robinette (Head Coach)

Originally from Bowling Green, Ohio and a graduate of Bowling Green State University, Coach Robinette is a teacher and coach in Kershaw County. She teaches 7th grade math and has coached for 5 years at the middle school level and last year with SC Midlands. Robinette played volleyball in high school and loves to watch our Lady Gamecocks play.

Andrea Keesee (Coach)

Keesee is currently a first grade teacher at Lake Carolina Lower Elementary School. She serves in the U.S. Army National Guard as a 1st Lieutenant. In high school, she was a three year varsity letter winner at Blythewood High School as well as an All-Region selection in 2009 and a WLTX News Player of the Week. She played club ball for S.C. Juniors from 2007-2010. Keesee was a team captain in 2009 and 2010 and named to the Palmetto Regional Championships All-Region Team in 2009 and 2010. Her team ranked second in the state in the 2008 season. Andrea played volleyball in college at Charleston Southern University for the 2010 and 2011 seasons as an OH. She was also the head volleyball coach at Hanahan High School for the 2018 season, and is currently the assistant varsity/head JV coach at Blythewood High School. She had previously coached club volleyball with the Palmetto Strikers.

Dr. Caleen Hawkins (Coach)

Hawkins has several years of experience within the realm of volleyball. She began her collegiate volleyball career as a Setter/DS at South Carolina State University and finished her career at Claflin University. She had the opportunity to experience two collegiate championships during her undergraduate career. While completing her undergrad degree, she coached as an assistant and head club volleyball coach in Orangeburg, SC. More recently she has had the opportunity to coach at Blythewood High School as JV head coach (2018) and Varsity Assistant Coach (2018, 2019) with great success. In combination with her love and knowledge for the game of volleyball, she specializes in physical therapy, injury prevention, and sports performance which brings a different aspect to her coach style.

Alexis Moses (Head Coach)

Coach Alexis Moses played collegiate volleyball with South Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Coach Alexis has years of coaching experience, she’s currently the Head Coach at Ridge View High School after serving two years as the Assistant Varsity and Head Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach at Richland Northeast High School. She has served two years as a South Carolina Midlands Volleyball Club Head Coach. She has also served as an assistant coach for Gray Collegiate Academy High and Columbia High School. Her coaching philosophy is: “I am a Coach because of my passion for the sport of Volleyball. My goal is to be able to better prepare these young athletes for what’s to come in life and help build better character and confidence. I want to mold a group of individuals, in a comfortable environment, to better communicate, to instill responsibility, and to be able to hold themselves accountable. I believe in motivating their dreams to be their best on and off the court.”

Kelly Owens (Head Coach)

Coach Owens is a Charleston native and attended Middleton High School where she played both volleyball and basketball. She earned all conference honors in high school and went on to play volleyball at Mars Hill University. After graduating, she worked as a teacher, coached volleyball at the high school level for 9 years, then worked as a SC high school volleyball official for 12 years. During that time she continued to play through the USA women’s volleyball league. She has officiated the state volleyball championship and the north-south all-star game. For the last ten years Coach Owens has coached middle school teams, summer camps, volleyball clinics, and most recently the Palmetto Strikers boys volleyball team. Coach Owens is an assistant principal at Hanahan Middle School and serves as the Boys Volleyball Outreach Director for the Palmetto Volleyball Region.

Dimapan has extensive experience in school and club. She has mentored many of Columbia's top players on their paths to the collegiate level. Her club teams have had top finishes both winning the region, winning a National Qualifier, and qualifying for Nationals multiple times. Currently the head coach at Cardinal Newman School, Dimapan has accrued four straight region titles, an appearance in 2019 SCISA 3A State Championship, and she was named SCISA 3A Region I Coach of the Year. Dawn Wilcox (Assistant Coach)

Wilcox is originally from Galion, Ohio. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Ohio State University and her Master's Degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. In 2008, she moved to South Carolina to teach middle school math. She spent one year as the assistant coach at Kelly Mill Middle School. Since then, Wilcox has spent the last several years as the head coach at Muller Road Middle School, where she led the Mustangs to district titles. Wilcox teaches 7th and 8th grade mathematics at Muller Road.

Rebekah Garbett (Head Coach)

Coach Rebekah Garbett is the head volleyball coach at Hammond School where she has coached the past two seasons. Prior to coaching at Hammond, she was the head coach at Dreher High School. She has also been a middle school coach at Summit Parkway as well as a JV coach at Dreher. Coach Rebekah is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and currently teaches Physical Education and Health at Summit Parkway Middle. She is married to Dan Garbett and has three children; Carter (8), Thomas (5) and Olivia, (newborn).

McKenzie Morehouse (Assistant Coach)

Coach McKenzie Morehouse played four years of varsity volleyball while in high school. She played two years at Crestwood High School and the other two at Dreher High School. She attended the University of South Carolina and began coaching during her senior year. She started out as the JV Assistant Coach at Hammond School and was the Head JV Coach this past season. This will be her second year of coaching with SC Midlands.

Ashley Evans (Coach)

Ashley Evans is a graduate of Ben Lippen School and The University of South Carolina. She started her volleyball career at Ben Lippen playing 6th through 12th grade. In between school seasons she played four years of club with SC Midlands Volleyball. After high school she continued playing at Spartanburg Methodist College, where she signed as a defensive specialist. Ashley has been coaching with SC Midlands since 2010, where she has coached various age groups and levels. She also coached at Westwood High School as the JV head coach and Varsity assistant from 2016-2018. She currently is the head Varsity coach at Ben Lippen School. She took over the volleyball program in 2019.


Carisia Gandara (Coach)

Gandara started playing volleyball at a young age and ended up receiving a volleyball scholarship to play at Odessa College in Texas. Although from El Paso, Texas , Gandara and her family move to South Carolina a couple of years ago. Gandara coached in Texas and for SC Midlands last year. This will be her second year with us. Gandara is also the middle school volleyball and basketball coach for Cardinal Newman. She is currently earning a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Sports Performance. Coaching is her passion. Coach Gandara looks forward to coaching this season and meeting everyone.

V'Aira Harris (Head Coach)

Harris attends Benedict College where she is studying Computer Engineering with a focus in Cyber Security. Harris recently completed her senior year for the Benedict College Women’s Volleyball team this past season. During her tenor as a Lady Tiger she received the honors of Newcomer of The Year 2016-2017, Pre-Season Player of the Year Pre-Season Offensive Player of The Year for 2017-2018, SIAC First Team All Conference and SIAC Second Team All Conference. At the concluding of this past current season, she led the SIAC conference in service aces. This is Harris's second year as a S.C. Midlands coach. Harris is passionate about helping her players develop into becoming the best that they can be!

Mackenzie Downs (Assistant Coach)

Downs is the head coach of the Westwood high school JV volleyball team and assists the varsity Westwood High school volleyball team. Downs attends the University of South Carolina as a sophomore majoring in mass communications. She played volleyball for 4 years as a setter before having to end her career due to 2 knee injuries. Downs started coaching after her injuries and is now in her 5th season as a club coach.

Chania Rispress (Head Coach)

Coach Chania Rispress, played volleyball for 10 years. Attended Blythewood High School and Claflin University. Played in the 2016 All-Star North South Game. Received Offensive MVP Junior and senior year while at Blythewood High school. Last year coached for the 15 national elite.

Lauren Price (Practice Assistant)

Price played volleyball with SC Midlands for the past 6 years. As a member of our national team, Price earned All Region Honors. Additionally, she played for the Blythewood High School Volleyball team for three seasons earning the Coaches Award all three years. Price is a defensive specialist and is excited to share her love for the game with players. She plans to pursue her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing.

Hayleigh Martin (Head Coach)

Martin played volleyball for 6 years at Cardinal Newman School and 5 years at SC Midlands. Currently a junior attending the University of South Carolina, Martin returned to Cardinal Newman where she has been the Head JV Volleyball coach for the past three seasons. This will be her third year coaching at SC Midlands, and she can’t wait to lead the 14 Performance team!

Lindsey Crider (Assistant Coach)

Crider began playing volleyball at Cardinal Newman and has played club with SC Midlands. Her Cardinal Newman team was the first in 20 years that the school made it to the State Championship. With her volleyball career ending on such a positive note, Crider is very excited for this upcoming club season. She looks forward to working with the team and instilling the love of the game with all the girls!

Emily Lotts (Head Coach)

Coach Emily Lotts attended Columbia College for the last year and a half. She went to school there to continue her volleyball career. Emily has played volleyball for the past 12 years and this will be her second year coaching. She was an Outside/Right Side hitter but throughout her time playing, she has played each position at least once. Emily is excited to coach this year because she has learned a lot from playing and is ready to teach her players the fundamentals of the game. As much as she loves the game, she is wanting to teach the players how to be better teammates and how to be confident in the skills they have. Coach Emily is ready for an amazing season!

Jalyn Pace (Assistant Coach)

My name is Jalyn Pace, I’m 20 years old. I am a current college volleyball student athlete. I’m from Orlando Fl where I attended East Ridge High School. Also, I was very active throughout high school especially sports, I continued my volleyball career in high school on the varsity team all four years and basketball as well. I have a good experience and exposure to club volleyball and knows what it takes with hard work and dedication. Being a coach I aspire to give all the tools and skills that has been given to me to my players, to mold them into successful athlete.

Dawn Wilcox (Head Coach)

Within those 4 years she went to the USA Girls Junior National Championship and won multiple Region titles. She played on 13 region, 14 National, 15 National, and 17 National while at SC Midlands. She also played in the third round of playoffs for 5A representing Blythewood High School. Johnson is so excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to meet her team! Go Midlands!

Wyatt Britt (Head Coach)

Coach Wyatt began playing at an early age by competing on the kids power team in elementary school. She played for SC Midlands for 6 six years. With in those 6 years she went to the USA Girls Junior National Championship and won multiple Region titles. She played on 13 National, 14 National, 15 National, 16 National while at SC Midlands. She also played in the Lower State Championship for 5 A representing Blythewood High school and also went to the 3rd round of playoffs. Coach Wyatt spent her first year coaching last year as 13 Red Region Head Coach. She is so excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to meet her team! Go midlands!

Caitlan Rabon (Assistant Coach)

Rabon began playing volleyball in elementary school and continued to play throug middle and high school. Rabon played club ball for AOVC, KC Juniors, Magnum, and SC Midlands. She played school ball for Lugoff-Elgin Middle School and Lugoff-Elgin High School. Joining SC Midlands Volleyball, Rabon seeks to share the knowledge she has gained throughout the years from her previous coaches. She hopes to share her love of volleyball with the girls. Rabon looks forward to a positive and successful season.

Cassidy Jacobs (Head Coach)

Jacobs attends Columbia College. Jacobs has played school volleyball and club volleyball since she was in middle school. Now playing volleyball at Columbia College and finishing her second year as a collegiate athlete, Jacobs will be coaching a 13 region this year. She coached as an assistant with SC Midlands last year.

Becca Lorimer (Assistant Coach)

Lorimer attended and played at Columbia College. Lorimer played school volleyball starting in middle school and played for clubs around the Georgia area. Lorimer is a sophomore setter at Columbia College and coached as an assistant with SC Midlands last year.

Hunter LaFrage (Coach)

LaFrage attends Columbia College where she will graduate in May 2020 with a degree in Business and a concentration in Hospitality and Tourism. She has been a part of the Koala volleyball team for three years. She attended Airport High School where she played on the varsity team for four years. This will be her fourth year coaching club. Coach Hunter is super excited about the upcoming season!

Kesha Gillens (Coach)

A Hall of Fame inductee at Benedict College, Gillens competed in the EIAC conference in Cross Country and Track and Field. Gillens received MVP honors in 1995, 1996 and 1997. Additionally, Gillens played volleyball and landed MVP honors in both 1997 & 1998. Gillens has served as a volleyball referee for South Carolina High School league for 8 years and an Assistant Director of Southern Smashers Volleyball Club for 7 years. Gillens has shared her love of the game by coaching our Kids Power teams over the past several years.

Aisha Taylor (Coach)

Taylor is in her second year as a coach for SC Midlands. Taylor began her volleyball career at Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut where she was a four-year varsity letter winner. She was an All-Area selection for the SCC Class M division in 1997 and went on to win the 1997 SCC Championship. She went on to compete in track and field at the University of South Carolina where she was a team captain of the 2002 NCAA National Championship team and a four-year SEC scholar-athlete. After completing her undergraduate studies, Aisha went on to graduate from the USC School of Law and is now serving as Commissioner, South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Kelsi Deese (Coach)

Coach Kelsi Deese currently attends the University of South Carolina where she is majoring in nursing and is a setter for the USC women’s club volleyball team. She played on the varsity volleyball team at Northwestern High School and she also played club volleyball at the national level for Carolina Union Volleyball Club. In her free time, Deese enjoys time with friends and family, as well as watching the USC Gamecocks.

Isabel Stanley (Coach)

Coach Isabel Stanley played volleyball for 8 years at Ben Lippen. Aspiring to play volleyball at the college level, Stanley is also excited to pass the game onto younger players and coach at SC Midlands.

Lauren Price (Coach)

Price played volleyball with SC Midlands for the past 6 years. As a member of our national team, Price earned All Region Honors. USA IMPACT Coaches Certification: At SC Midlands, all coaches are required to be certified through USA Volleyball. Committed to providing the safest environment, USAV is the only program licensed to accredit volleyball coaches in the United States. Every coach on our staff, is required to obtain training certification. Proper USAV certification is important for all who work with your children. Be sure to require this for all coaches who come in contact with your child.

Additional Certifications: In addition to IMPACT Certification, some of our coaches are also members of the Positive Coaching Alliance, and the American Volleyball Coaches Association. New this Year! All coaches will receive training as part of Team USA's SafeSport Program.
